Better Life Creates Original Programs for Viewers

Better Life’s production staff have been busy creating original programs that you won’t find on other Adventist networks. Boot’s ‘n Bibles is a fun and inspirational cowboy-church style program; Catching the Light, a radio-style Bible study program, is also quite unique in the world of Adventist media; and you’d be hard pressed to find a program like Stories of Faith where God is glorified as we tell stories of the miraculous things He does in these modern times.

Most recently we’re overhauling our flagship program, Better Life Today, turning it into a new magazine-style format program with fascinating stories and insightful commentary. We think you’re really going to love this new program. Your prayers, stories and financial support inspire and allow us to produce these new and innovative programs.

YouTube Viewers Discover Better Life

Have you visited our YouTube channel? We’ve found it’s a wonderful way to share videos around the world as well as make new friends far from our roots in southern Oregon. The other day we had a lady call from Canada. She wanted to make a donation and so we asked her how it was she learned about Better Life. She told us that she had run across a sermon on our YouTube channel that she liked! That’s the power of the world-wide web!

On another occasion we were contacted by a lady in Florida who discovered the Stories of Faithseries we have posted on our YouTube channel. She was so happy to have found others who believed that God still moves in miraculous ways in our day. She wanted to share some stories of her own with us.

Visiting our YouTube channel is easy. Just type in in your browser and you’ll go right to it! Visit today and check out our huge selection of videos!

New Executive Director, Charlie Oliver, Sees Good Things Happening

Friends, in the short time I’ve been with Better Life I’ve been impressed with the encouraging soul winning stories viewers share with this ministry on a regular basis. I wanted to share with you personally one such story that especially caught my eye.

We recently spoke with a lady who, along with her husband, had been baptized after watching Better Life for about a year. She told us that, although she had been raised in a Christian home, she decided to head into the world when she was about 17 and stayed there until she was about 40. In the back of her mind she knew that one day she would return to the Lord, but still she ventured onto Satan’s ground. Even in this lost condition she saw the hand of the Lord in her life. One day while in an occult book store, an older looking man took her by the hand and led her outside saying, “You don’t belong here.” When she turned around a moment later, he was gone. She took the cue from the Lord and left her occult practices that day.

Years later, now a Christian, she found herself in southern Oregon. One day she read a frightening sermon and was so moved that she decided to stop watching secular TV. As she searched for an alternative, she came across Better Life Television! She started watching Doug Batchelor, Ken Cox and John Bradshaw and she was hooked. She asked God to help her discern if what she was watching was truth and as she continued studying she was drawn further into Bible truth.

She told us that she always feared death, but the ministers on Better Life led her to understand what the Bible really says about the topic. She happily told us that she no longer fears death or the second coming! Praise the Lord!

During her studies, our friend came to accept the Sabbath and she also enjoyed learning about end-time prophecies. She said Better Life has been a real teaching tool for her, and that she’s studied end-time prophecy so much that she could probably give a talk on it herself! She pointed out that some pastors just give their opinions, but on Better Life she found pastors that taught what the Bible says, and that there’s a big difference between the two.

This dear lady has found a better life in another way, too. She has given up smoking for the past six months and has overcome her addiction to buying clothing and jewelry. She jokingly said that she should have become an Adventist earlier because it would have saved her a lot of money!
There were tears in her voice as she shared her testimony and newfound joy. Friend, your prayers and financial support help make stories like these happen. Thank you so much for supporting the ministry of Better Life.- CO

Kip: I have some big news for you in this issue of “Behind the Scenes.” You see, for a long time now I’ve felt called to be more involved in pastoral work. So a while back I began continuing my education with the goal of becoming a pastor. Well, God has opened up the door just recently and I accepted a call to pastor the Gateway and Sonrise Seventh-day Adventist churches here in southern Oregon.

Of course that left my position here at Better Life open. But where God guides, He provides and I’m pleased to introduce you to Better Life’s new executive director, Charlie Oliver. I’d like to give him a chance to introduce himself to you now.

Charlie: Thanks Kip, it is truly a blessing to join the Better Life team.  In the short time I’ve been working here, I’ve already seen so many examples of God using this ministry to reach out to the public in amazing ways. I’m thankful that His providence has seen fit to bring me here.

Allow me to share a bit about my background. I earned my degree in Business Administration: Information Systems at the University of Washington, and have spent most of my working career providing technical and organization support in the small business sector. I am a lifelong Seventh-day Adventist, and grew up listening to stories of my grandparents’ adventures working as missionaries in the Far East.  A desire to share the good news of Jesus Christ is strong in my family, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to serve at Better Life.

My wife and I, along with our three sons, moved to southern Oregon last fall, when Tanya accepted the call to teach at the Adventist school here in Grants Pass. As we settled into our new community, I was seeking God’s will for my life moving forward. Well, as Kip has mentioned, about this time he decided to accept the call to become a pastor and the Better Life board began the search to find a replacement. Unexpectedly they began talking with me. One thing led to another and here I am!

I am thankful for the experiences that ultimately brought me here. I think that my passion for evangelism, combined with the skills that I bring to the table in the IT department will be helpful as Better Life looks toward the media of the future. More and more broadcasting is heading to the Internet and we prayerfully want to leverage these opportunities to extend our reach and do our part to spread the good news of Jesus Christ around the world.

I appreciate your prayers for Better Life during this transition, and I want you to know that I’m committed to continuing down the path that our founder, Delmer Wagner started so many years ago. - CO

Delmer Wagner, Founder of Better Life Passes

Delmer Wagner Passes at Age 87

We regret to announce that Delmer Wagner, the founder of Better Life went to his rest on December 22nd, 2018 at age 87.

There will be a “Celebration of Life” for him held on January 6th at 2 PM at the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist church located at 1360 NE 9h st. in Grants Pass Oregon. The public is invited to attend.

The family is requesting that contributions be made to Better Life in lieu of gifts or flowers, and when you send in your donation you may request a copy of a book about the history of Better Life.

We mourn the loss of our dear brother and friend who is now sleeping until the wonderful return of Jesus, but we are thankful for the ministry that he started so many years ago. Delmer had a heart for evangelism and we pray that he is overwhelmed in heaven when he sees those who are there because of the ministry of Better Life.
